MULTITEL Independent EULYNX testing laboratory
MULTITEL is an independent railway testing laboratory developing dedicated capabilities for the testing and conformity assessment of EULYNX-compatible railway signalling systems. The laboratory is initially focused on Object Controllers, with the objective of progressively extending its capabilities to additional EULYNX components, Interlockings and, ultimately, system-level Trackside testing. MULTITEL already operates a dedicated EULYNX Object Controller Test Bench, combining EULYNX communication interfaces, physical Digital I/O, Object Controller simulation, test sequence preparation, execution, monitoring and result analysis. This environment provides a controlled and reproducible framework for development support, interface validation, interoperability testing, pre-conformity testing, non-regression testing, troubleshooting and independent conformity assessment. MULTITEL intends to extend its existing ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory activities to include EULYNX Object Controller testing.

The MULTITEL tools support the complete test workflow from test definition to execution and analysis, including dedicated functions for Test Sequence Edition, Test Case Details (which is based on the current EULYNX test case JSON database available) and Test Sequence Execution.
Current Point Testing Capability
MULTITEL already has the technical capability, laboratory infrastructure and test tools required to perform a complete conformity test campaign for a Point Object Controller / Point Machine implementation.
A Point solution developed in collaboration with PILZ has already been integrated into the MULTITEL EULYNX laboratory environment. The test system called MRL is performing the test of the unit by stimulating / simulating the DIGITAL I/Os and talking according to RaSTA (Rail Safe Transport Application) protocol.
The EULYNX test bench was developed directly from the EULYNX specification, without using the reference code.
This independent implementation reduces the risk of common-mode errors, since the test bench does not share the same software base, architecture, or implementation assumptions as the system under test. It therefore provides an independent means to verify protocol interpretation, message encoding and decoding, and overall conformance to the specification.

MULTITEL has the tools, processes and laboratory organisation required to perform these activities according to ISO/IEC 17025 principles.
The objective is to include EULYNX Object Controller testing within its relevant accredited laboratory available scopes, enabling MULTITEL to provide independent accredited test results for such equipment.

The EULYNX laboratory is therefore being developed not only as an engineering or simulation platform, but as an independent conformity testing environment.
EULYNX Interlocking Simulator
MULTITEL has developed its own EULYNX-compatible Interlocking Simulator.
The simulator is capable of communicating according to EULYNX interfaces and interacting simultaneously with a large number of virtualised Object Controllers.
It can reproduce representative signalling configurations in a fully controlled environment and provides the foundation for:
- Multi-Object Controller scenarios
- Interlocking-to-Object Controller testing
- Interoperability testing
- Nominal and degraded scenarios
- Fault injection
- Automated regression campaigns
- Large virtual signalling configurations
This capability allows MULTITEL to move progressively from individual Object Controller testing towards complete EULYNX system-level test environments.
Towards a Full Trackside Digital Twin
MULTITEL has incorporated EULYNX interaction capabilities into its existing Trackside / RBC Test Bench.
By combining RBC testing and simulation, EULYNX-compatible Interlocking simulation, virtualised and real Object Controllers, and virtualised and real field elements, MULTITEL is progressively developing the capability to reproduce a complete railway Trackside environment.
The long-term objective is to establish a Full Trackside Digital Twin, allowing railway signalling architectures to be tested from the RBC level down to the Interlocking, Object Controller and field-element level within one controlled and instrumented environment.
Same virtual Trackside. Same scenarios. Comparable results.

Reference Environment for Interlocking Testing
One of the objectives of the MULTITEL EULYNX laboratory is to establish a reproducible reference test environment for EULYNX-compatible Interlockings.
MULTITEL’s own Interlocking Simulator can interact with a predefined set of virtualised Object Controllers and execute controlled signalling scenarios. The same virtual Trackside and the same test scenarios could subsequently be connected to an Interlocking Under Test.
This approach would enable the behaviour of different EULYNX Interlocking implementations to be evaluated under identical conditions.
Results could be compared with the MULTITEL reference implementation in order to identify:
- Behavioural differences
- Interface deviations
- Protocol inconsistencies
- Unexpected state transitions
- Timing differences
- Interoperability issues
The objective is not to define the MULTITEL implementation as the EULYNX reference, but to provide an independent and reproducible benchmark environment enabling objective comparison between implementations for cross testing purposes.
Building a Reference Test Base
MULTITEL intends to build a structured reference test base for EULYNX systems, starting from Object Controller testing.
The approach will build upon and be inspired by the Object Controller test cases made available by EULYNX, progressively extending them towards integration and system-level scenarios.
The objective is to create a traceable test environment covering:
- Individual Object Controller behaviour
- Interlocking-to-Object Controller interactions
- Multiple Object Controller configurations
- Nominal and degraded modes
- Interface and protocol behaviour
- Integration scenarios
- Ultimately, complete Trackside configurations
The reference test base would support both Object Controller testing and future evaluation of EULYNX-compatible Interlockings.
Open to Collaboration
MULTITEL is open to collaboration with EULYNX stakeholders
MULTITEL would like to extend its laboratory with additional EULYNX Object Controllers, field components and signalling subsystems.
The laboratory is therefore open to collaboration with Object Controller manufacturers, signalling suppliers, infrastructure managers, laboratories, technology providers and other EULYNX stakeholders.
For new components, MULTITEL is prepared to jointly develop the required laboratory interfaces, simulation models and test environment following the same collaborative principles already successfully applied with PILZ.
