EULYNX is pleased to welcome the Australian Rail Industry Standards Organisation (ARISO) as its newest Associate Member, further extending international cooperation on signalling standardisation and digital railway development.

The partnership was formally signed at InnoTrans 2026, and is expected to contribute directly to ARISO’s work program supporting digital railway enablement, national standards harmonisation and long-term productivity improvements across the Australian rail sector.

“Australia does not need to start from scratch. Through this partnership we will connect directly with organisations that have already tackled many of the challenges associated with delivering interoperability at scale and driving down costs through open-access standards,” said Alan Fedda, Chief Executive Officer of ARISO.

“We are very pleased to welcome ARISO as an Associate Member. This creates a strong two-way exchange, allowing Australia to benefit from EULYNX experience while bringing a valuable new perspective and helping extend the reach of common EULYNX solutions into new markets,” said Mirko Blazic, EULYNX Technical Lead.

EULYNX and the EU-Rail System Pillar announce the publication of EULYNX Baseline Set 4 Release 4, marking another significant step forward in the digitalisation and…

EULYNX and the EU-Rail System Pillar announce the publication of EULYNX Baseline Set 4 Release 4, marking another significant step forward in the digitalisation and harmonisation of European railway signalling.

This release is a documentation update within EULYNX Baseline Set 4, building on previous versions and finalising the work on this baseline. With this release, the specification set has reached a stable maturity level and is now closed to functional changes or new features. As with earlier releases, these specifications were developed in close collaboration with the European CCS sector under the EU-Rail System Pillar.

All specifications relating to trackside assets and transversal functions apply to both the current EULYNX architecture and the future target architecture as defined by the EU-Rail System Pillar. These have been published as a single set of 25 specification documents by EU-Rail System Pillar and EULYNX. In addition, EULYNX has published 24 further specifications and supporting documents for the current EULYNX architecture. This release is also fully aligned with and refers to the Cybersecurity Specification V1.0 as published by the EU-Rail System Pillar.

By providing a stable foundation, this publication supports ongoing investment and development in the EULYNX architecture, enabling smooth migration and ensuring compatibility with the future target architecture of the Single European Railway Area (SERA).

EULYNX’s open and standardised interfaces are already helping to reduce life-cycle costs, promote supplier competition, and accelerate the adoption of digital technologies. The efficient, collaborative development process demonstrates the System Pillar’s role as a system integrator and architect for the future European railway.

All deliverables are available in PDF format. Additional supporting artefacts include:

Requirements Interchange Format (ReqIF) for all requirements specifications

Model exports for all model-based deliverables

Simulators for EULYNX field element subsystem specifications to support verification and validation

The complete EULYNX Baseline Set 4 is available for download by registered users.
ADIF (Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias) has officially become a member of the EULYNX Consortium, marking a significant advancement in its ongoing efforts to modernise and standardise railway signalling systems.

EULYNX is a European initiative focused on standardising interfaces and components within railway signalling systems. By joining the consortium, ADIF aims to adopt cutting-edge technologies and modular solutions that will streamline its operations and align with European standards.

ADIF’s participation in EULYNX aligns with its broader commitment to modernising Spain’s railway network. The company has been actively investing in the renewal of key infrastructure components and the upgrading of signalling and communications systems through interoperable technologies. These efforts are designed to improve service reliability and quality, making rail transport more attractive and sustainable. By leveraging EULYNX’s modular, standardised architecture, ADIF intends to reduce lifecycle costs, mitigate obsolescence risks, and increase both the flexibility and longevity of its infrastructure.

Bane NOR has successfully put its new EULYNX-compliant ERTMS Level 2 signalling system into operation on 27 October 2024. Commercial passenger operations began on 16…

Bane NOR has successfully put its new EULYNX-compliant ERTMS Level 2 signalling system into operation on 27 October 2024. Commercial passenger operations began on 16 November 2024.

The system operates on the Gjøvik Line, a 67 km single-track railway with crossing loops. The previous signalling system, dating back to the 1950s, has now been replaced. The Gjøvik Line is served exclusively by Electrical Multiple Units (EMUs).

Bane NOR’s ERTMS Programme has been delivered in collaboration with three suppliers:

Siemens for the ERTMS Trackside,

Alstom for the ERTMS Onboards,

Hitachi for the Traffic Management System.

This is the first EULYNX-compliant signalling system in operation, with the new design combining a centralised computer facility for interlocking, RBC, and TMS, with a decentralised object controller level, applied without lineside signalling.

Siemens has provided the following EULYNX interfaces for this system:

SCI/SDI-P

SCI/SDI-IO

SCI/SDI-TDS

SCI/SDI-LS

SCI-CC

SCI-RBC

SCI-ILS

The Gjøvik Line is currently operating on the first development stage with most of the EULYNX interfaces in operation. Full compliance with SCI-ILS and SCI-RBC will be achieved in future development stages.

After more than a month in operation, the system and all EULYNX interfaces have performed reliably and to Bane NOR’s satisfaction.

The EULYNX interfaces lay the foundation for a future-proof signalling system that can support the integration of emerging technologies such as Automatic Train Operation (ATO) and satellite positioning.
