Balise and balise group |
The Eurobalise, or ETCS balise, is a kind of TPS spot device.<br/>A balise group (BG), implemented by a number of balises, is a TPS data transmission system, also known as data point. <br/>The drawing on this page illustrates orientation, position and length of balises and balise groups. Note that the balise group function isn't associated with a direction because it is the actual telegrams inside the balise group that determine in which direction the function works. <br/><br/>See the links to related diagrams at the bottom of this page for details how a balise group relates to individual balises.<br/><br/>Users can define sets of BGs that meet particular concerns. An example of such a set is a table of BG that fulfil a given function such as "stop if in SR" balises or BG that implement ETCS Level 1. Such sets can overlap because a BG can appear in more than one set.<br/>The model allows classifying balise groups according to different needs:<br/><ul>
